Three Found Dead After Fishing Boat Sinks in South Sea

WANDO, South Jeolla Province - The Coast Guard confirmed Friday that three individuals have died following the sinking of a fishing boat in the South Sea earlier this week.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the incident occurred at 1 p.m. Thursday when a 6-ton fishing vessel, carrying six people, capsized off the coast of Wando, approximately 360 kilometers south of Seoul. Three foreign sailors were rescued shortly after the accident by a nearby ship, while two individuals, including the captain, were found deceased at the scene. The body of another sailor, previously missing, was discovered Friday morning at a fish farm roughly 1.4 kilometers from where the tragedy unfolded. The Coast Guard suspects that adverse weather conditions may have contributed to the accident.
