Seoul Stock Market Rises on Strength in Auto and Logistics Sectors

SEOUL — Seoul's stock market saw a rise in shares late Tuesday morning, largely driven by gains in the automobile and logistics sectors. The Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) increased by 14.16 points, reaching 2,778.89 at 11:20 a.m.

According to Yonhap News Agency, significant contributors to the rise included Hyundai Motors, which climbed 4.09 percent, and Kia, which increased by 1.4 percent. Auto parts manufacturer Hyundai Mobis also saw a notable gain of 6.09 percent.

Additionally, logistics companies showed strong performance, with HMM advancing 1.05 percent and Hyundai Glovis up 3.88 percent. Korea Line experienced a significant jump, rising 10.13 percent. Meanwhile, tech shares displayed mixed results; Samsung Electronics rose by 0.99 percent, whereas SK hynix saw a slight decrease of 0.45 percent. The local currency also strengthened, with the won trading at 1,386.00 against the U.S. dollar, marking a 3 won increase from the previous session.
