Samsung Electronics Workers to Initiate Full-Scale Strike

SEOUL — Unionized workers at Samsung Electronics Co. have announced plans to launch a general strike, citing unsuccessful negotiations with management over wages and working conditions. The announcement was made on Monday by the National Samsung Electronics Union (NSEU), the company's largest labor union with 28,000 members.

According to Yonhap News Agency, president of the NSEU, the decision to strike comes after months of stalled negotiations since January, which failed to resolve disputes concerning wage increases, vacation policies, and bonuses. The union has also called for fair compensation for members who did not sign the 2024 salary negotiation agreement. "We will fight with a full strike, without pay and without work, until our demands are met," Son declared. This move follows a one-day strike in June, marking the first labor walkout in the company’s history.
