Former U.S. Representatives Visit DMZ on Korean War Anniversary

PAJU, South Korea — Seven former U.S. representatives toured the Joint Security Area in the Demilitarized Zone separating North and South Korea on Tuesday to mark the 74th anniversary of the Korean War.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the delegation, part of the United States Association of Former Members of Congress, included Dennis A. Ross, Betsy Markey, and Greg Walden, along with their spouses. Walden, whose father-in-law served as a U.N. soldier during the Korean War, expressed the personal significance of the visit. The foundation, chaired by former U.S. Representative Jay Changjoon Kim, has facilitated these visits since 2019, with this being the seventh delegation to South Korea. Kim highlighted the unique challenges and potential for South Korea as the world's only divided country.
